Here at Beyond Gamers we take our games seriously and as such we take this list seriously, so take this as a disclaimer if you will. This list is not based on sales. A game of the year list never should be a popularity contest. It should be about one thing. The quality of the games.

We here at Beyond Gamers understand that opinions are a dime a dozen. However we like to think our opinion is better informed and therefor more valid than yours. So without further delay here are Beyond Gamers Top 5 games of the year.

5. Batman Arkham Asylum (PC, PS3, Xbox 360) Developed by Rocksteady

Batman: Arkham Asylum was a nice little surprise this year. After years of disappointing attempts to create the "prefect" Batman game it was upstart studio Rocksteady that finally nailed it. Everything from the top notch visuals that drip with an eerie atmosphere to the excellent voice acting just screams quality. The game was a real treat to play that allowed gamers to finally feel like they were walking in the shoes of the Dark Knight.

4. Forza MotorSport 3 (Xbox 360) Developed by Microsoft Studios

Forza MotorSport 3 continues the series in grand fashion giving gamers access to over 400 real life cars on over 100 tracks. The gorgeous cars and courses are further complimented by some of the smoothest controls to ever grace a driving sim. 3. Demon's Souls (PS3) Developed by From Software

At first glance it would be very easy to pass off Demon's Souls as just another hack and slash, dungeon crawling RPG. However after actually playing the game no one should be able to deny the genius that is Demon's Souls. The game provides a revolutionary knew way to add multi-player elements to a single player RPG. Players can do everything from teaming up to defeat a tough boss to leaving each other clues as to what is coming in a new section. While the game is not for the casual gamer, the hardcore crowd is eating is up in droves and with good reason. Believe everything you have heard about this game. It is that good....and then some.

2. Killzone 3 (PS3) Guerrilla

In 2005 Guerrilla teased the gaming world with the infamous target render that "would never be met". In 2009 they silenced the critics and delivered one of the greatest looking First Person Shooters of all time. The game wowed PS3 owners with excellent game play and visuals and hooked them with arguably the deepest and best online gaming experience of the year. 1. Uncharted 2 (PS3) Developed By Naughty Dog

Of all the games released this year, no game was better than Naughty Dog's Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. It is no wonder that the game has won so many Game of the Year Awards.
